Dec. 23, 2007 - The Brandos would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday Season! It was a great year for the band, one in which we saw a few more changes (which we think will be for the better), and yet another great european tour. This included some new towns for the band, as well as the return to several we haven't been to in a while, and another stint on german television's WDR "Rockpalast - Crossroads" concert series. Two of the shows were both recorded and filmed, and a live album/DVD is being planned for release early next year. The band would like to express our sincere apologies to the fans in Potsdam and in Dresden, who were dissapointed during the last tour this October. Dave was struck with a pretty sever case of the flu duing the tour, was barely able to sing at all in Postdam, and which caused the next show in Dresden to be cancelled. We very much appreciate everyone's understanding, these things happen sometimes, and we are determined to give you all a great show in the furure. Feb./March 2008 European tour dates are now on our Tour Page. This tour will mark the return to some of our favorite cities on the planet, such as Bremen, Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Stuttgart, and will coincide with the release of a new live album/DVD, entitled "Town to Town, Sun to Sun." Sept. 15, 2007 - Dave Kincaid interviewed for a documentary film on the Triangle Fire. Documentary filmmaker Roy Campolongo, who has been working for several years on a documentary film based on the tragic New York City factory fire of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company, recently contacted Dave Kincaid about The Brandos' song The Triangle Fire. This fire, which took place in Greenwich Village, New York on March 25th, 1911, has inspired numerous films, poems and songs, and Mr. Campolongo, having discovered The Brandos on the internet, felt that their song could be a relevant addition to the film. On August 27th, The Brandos songwriter Dave Kincaid was interviewed for the film, which is due for release in 2009. The director has expressed interest in using the song, and we are grateful for his interest and wish him all the luck with the project. (click) We are happy to announce the bands return to Slovenia, where the tour will commence at the Orto in Ljubljana on Oct. 4th. The band also welcomes to its stage slovene native Ziga Stanonik on 2nd guitar, who comes highly recommended by Ernie, who has worked with him there. Patrick Fitzsimmons will be back with us on drums, and of course Dave Kincaid and Ernie Mendillo as the usual suspects. April 22, 2007 - The Brandos' interview in French. For all the french-speaking fans, an interview with Dave Kincaid appears on this web site blog of our friend BeBop352 (click). March 3, 2007 - The Brandos "Over the Border" reviewed internationally. Feb. 22, 2007 - The Brandos in the UK! Their new album Over the Border was released this month in the UK with distribution through Shell Shock Independent Music Distribution, quoted as saying Dave Kincaid and his band return with a brand new studio album - the first record with new material in ten years. This new album contains all the elements fans have come to love about the band: anthemic choruses, stellar guitar licks and frontman Davids emotionally raw delivery. GUITAR Magazine (Germnay) An interview with The Brandos' singer/guitarist Dave Kincaid appeared in this months issue (see left). (click for english translation) January 26, 2007 - Best wishes to one and all for the new year from The Brandos! If its anything like this last year, then it will be jammed-packed with activity and lots of positive things happening. As many of you know, the band did manage, with the help of Edgar Heckmann of Blue Rose Records, to get the new album Over the Border completed and released just in time for the european tour in December (check out the Nowhere Zone german fan page for more tour photos and video clips). The tour was a great success, thanks to all the fans who came out to support us, and the new album seems to have made a very nice beginning. We are very fortunate that there has been some nice promotion - Rolling Stone Magazine (Germany) ran a story on the band this month (click for english translation), and there are reports of radio airplay in Germany - Radio Bremen 4, Radio 1 Berlin, and WDR 2 for example. Two live videos from the recent tour of new songs from "Over the Border" are also available fore viewing: Over the Border and Merrily Kissed the Quaker/The New York Volunteer. Were very grateful to everyone who has supported the band, both from within the music business and of course the fans, without whom none of this would be happening. Future tour plans are being made now, and well have more news on this very soon. December 2, 2006 - We're very happy to announce that The Brandos' new album "Over The Border" has now been released on the Blue Rose label in Europe! For our US fans, Iit can be purchased internationally through their website. It has been a long haul getting to this point, and a long time since we had an album of genuinely new songs, and we're very grateful to all our fans who have patiently hung in there with us, and we hope to be doing a lot more of this again. October 29, 2006 - Some very good news: were very pleased to announce that as of last week we have reached an agreement with Blue Rose Records from Germany for the release of the new album in Europe. Edgar Heckmann, who started the label more than ten years ago, has been a long-time fan and we were happy to discover that he is still. A nice offer was put forward, which we accepted, and this a man who understands not only The Brandoss music, but also the fans of this kind of music, and were genuinely looking forward two working with Edgar and Blue Rose. The new album will of course be called Over the Border, the front cover artwork can be seen at right. In the studio things have been rocking along, and were delighted to be able to tell you about the appearance of some extraordinary musicians on this new recording. One is veteran ace keyboardist Andy Burton , who plays Hammond organ on three of the tracks. Andy has been a mainstay in the New York music scene for years, playing with the likes of Ian Hunter among many others. Hes done great stuff on the album, and who knows? - maybe someday well get him out on the road with us. True to our long-standing tradition, there will be a couple of rockin Irish tunes on this album, and renowned uilleann piper Jerry OSullivan, who some of you will know from Daves Irish albums, gracioulsy agreed to play on two of the tracks. As always, Jerry totally smoked on these tunes (we think deep inside hes got a rock n roll heart...). Of course our old friend and studio mainstay Frank Funaro is the featured dummer on most of the tracks, but another of the New York area greats is our old friend Dennis Diken, drummer of one of our favorites The Smithereens. Wed very nearly worked together at various times, Dennis has always rocked the house (and still does -make no mistake...) and its a privilege to have him on two of the tracks. No doubt most of you are familiar with Free and Bad Company, who had a list of worldwide hits in the 70s. As fate would have it, Simon Kirke, the bands virtuoso drummer, now lives in New York and we were so fortunate as to get him in to play on a track, a new song called The Only Love I Can Get. Considered by us (and by one hell of a lot of other people) to be one of rock and rolls all-time greatest drummers, hes still rocking like a monster and puts most drummers half his age or more to shame. Simon is the consumate professional and a real gentleman, and were thrilled and honored to have him on our album. |
